Making water your first choice of liquids can curve your cravings, detoxify your liver and keep your body hydrated. Our bodies are made up of 65% water, and we lose 1-2 litres of water/day with breathing and our everyday activities. One glass of water can stop hunger cravings with zero calories and in 37% of people, we mistake thirst for hunger. If you feel symptoms of thirst, fatigue, dry mouth, headaches, yellow urine, dizziness, muscle weakness and lightheadedness it’s possible you are dehydrated. Poor hydration can lead to constipation, dry skin, premature aging, daytime fatigue, memory loss and difficulty focusing. If you cannot get yourself to drink plain water and love your juice read on for fun ways to get hydrated. Remember to aim for at least 8-10 cups of water a day:
1) You can add 9 cups of water to 1 can of frozen juice concentrate and use this as your daily hydration instead of juice.
2) Wash your favorite frozen fruits or herbs, place 1 cup of these in 1 pitcher of ice cold water for 2 hours. This can replace expensive flavored waters. You could try sliced lemons, oranges, berries, or mint
3) Make ice cubes with 100% diluted fruit juice and add these to a glass of water instead of a plain ice cube.
4) Try to include a glass of water before and after a meal to make it part of your healthy lifestyle habits.
